Dear Parents,

We have been hearing concerns from parents about how the election results are impacting our students, school and community.  Whether on the morning bus, on the school playground or cafeteria lunch table, the tone and comments from students are very negative and extremely hurtful to some.  It may not be intentional as our students are simply mimicking what has been heard through the negativity of the media and other sources.

Regardless of a parent's political stance, we must be unified in our messaging to our children. That messaging is in line with Puesta del Sol, Bellevue School District, Bellevue Schools foundation and the State of Washington. The outcome of the election does not change our goals, values or work to build a community and a school where students are respected, safe and included.   We are committed to building our community where students, staff and parents are supported and treated positively.

This is our time as parents to continue spreading the message to our children of respect and understanding. May we all continue to strive to be the strong school community that we all need.

Please feel free to direct any questions or concerns to [email protected].

All the best,

Sabrina Pinto - PTA Co-President
Puesta del Sol PTA Board
