Our PTA Nominating Committee has been seeking candidates to fill open officer positions on the Board for the 2018-19 school year. Currently they are unable to fill two positions, President and VP of Fundraising, the most important of which is President. Without a President, our PTA will not meet the legal standards of our Washington State PTA governing body, and our PTA cannot continue to operate.
This is very serious since, should we lose PTA status, we also lose the ability to access funds to support all our programs and activities including all field trips, the entire Amity Program, a generous stipend for each teacher, grants for supplies and broken equipment in the main office and around the school, books for the library, and extra help on the playground during lunch recess. Every student at our school benefits from our PTA programs and fundraising, regardless of membership.
We have until May 14 to fill the positions on the slate, which will be published on May 15 as required before the election on May 30, at our next general membership meeting.
