Summer Fun Ideas

Summer is a great time for trying different things!

Read a new book, watch a movie in Spanish, learn to play a musical instrument, explore a park you've never been to, visit with new friends, pick up a new skill, or try a different sport...

All other students grades 1-12 will start school on Thursday, September 1, 2016.

The Bellevue School District has announced a delayed start date for kindergarteners for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year.  In order to provide time for the kindergarten teachers to meet with each parent/guardian prior to the start of the school year, the first day of school for kindergarten students will be delayed until Tuesday, September 6, 2016.  Puesta del Sol kindergarten families will have opportunity to become acquainted with the kindergarten team at their child's Reading Assessment appointment on August 23rd and at the Kindergarten Orientation/Kinder Camp Day on August 24th.  A more individualized family meeting with each child's assigned teacher will be scheduled for September 1st or 2nd.

PTA Seeking New El Sol Editor

The PTA is actively seeking an Editor for our PTA Newsletter (El Sol). This role can be done by a one or two person co-editor team. Editing duties include: soliciting and compiling articles from PTA committees for El Sol publication, placing content in El Sol via the PTA's Constant Contact software, and coordinating school announcements/information with the communications team.  It should be noted that the articles submitted to the El Sol Editor will be complete; they will be fully written up and proof-read by at least two parties prior to placement in the newsletter.  This is to take the burden of writing and editing off this Editor position.  Time commitment: about 2–4 hrs/week, averaging 2 hrs/week most of the year.

This a great way to work from home and be active in the PTA's activities and promotions. Ideal candidates are comfortable with using computers, have basic word processing software, are timely and detail-oriented, and can commit to at least a full school year. Duties would be assumed in June of the current school year to allow an overlap and training with the current editorial team.
