The following information is from 2015-16. Updated information for the 2016-17 school year is coming soon!
Learn algebra the fun way and strengthen basic math skills! Hands-On Equations is a program designed to introduce younger children to concepts usually not introduced until Algebra I. The program uses manipulatives so that students have a stronger understanding of algebraic concepts. At the end of the class your student will be able to confidently solve 2-3 step equations and explain the distributive property. Your student will be able to easily solve equations like 2(2x+3) = x+9! The program transitions to a pictorial representation of equations, and then to a traditional "paper and pencil" solving of equations.
This method strengthens student's understanding, problem solving and mental math skills, all while having fun! Students should have a fundamental understanding of adding, subtracting and multiplying, although memorization of facts is not necessary for success in the class.
