Celebrate Hispanic Latinx Heritage Month
Puesta del Sol students and staff kicked off this Hispanic Latinx Heritage month with a special assembly featuring Danza Azteca on Friday, September 15. From September 15 to October 15 (and throughout the whole year!) we celebrate the histories, cultures and contributions of those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
This month, Puesta del Sol students are learning and practicing the standard of “I show respect” in lessons connected with the book En Realidad, es Jeferson/Yefferson, Actually by Katherine Trejo.
It is a story about a young El Salvadoran boy who, with the support of his family, finds the courage to correct everyone that says his name wrong.
Please join our community in the campaign “#IKnowMyFullName / #YoSéMiNombreCompleto” by sharing about your name(s) this Flipgrid! Please note, you must use your students’ Microsoft account to log in.

Book Fair
Book Fair
Date:
Mon 10/2 - Fri 10/6
Where:
Library
Dear Families:
I’m excited to announce that our school will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair, which will take place from October 2nd-6th in Puesta’s Library. For many students, it’s one of the most anticipated events of the school year—but we need volunteers to make it happen. We hope that you can offer your time and talents to help students experience Bookjoy firsthand! And every purchase at the Fair directly benefits our school. This year’s Fair is going to be epic, but we need volunteers to make it happen. We hope that you can offer your time and talents to help students become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers— which in turn makes them bolder, prouder, and stronger individuals. And since every purchase benefits our school, helping is twice as rewarding. If you’re available to lend a hand at this upcoming event, please volunteer via this link: Sign Up If you’re available to lend a hand at this upcoming event, please contact me and share which Fair activities interest you most. Opportunities to assist include: • Advertising • Decorating • Setting up the Fair • Helping shoppers at the Fair • Checkout • Packing up the Fair I look forward to hearing from you. Gratefully, Tara Jones Book Fair host [email protected] ics:
